In a cinematic festival ending the century:

The Prizes of the 23rd session of the CIFF

 

Finally the curtains came down ending this year's session of the CIFF. 

This session that bids this century decided to do so with a smile and so it chose "Comedy" as its main theme.

President of' the CIFF, Hussein Fahmi spoke in the closing ceremony of this year's session: "This session is a tribute to the great distinguished comedian Naguib Al Rehani."

After that it was time to declare the results of the official competition and that was the time when the tears mingled with anxiety and exhilaration in addition to the endless claps of the audience that accompanied the wining, stars while ascending the stage.

The results of the official competition were declared by the President of the Jury Panel and were as follows:

The prize for the best Arabic film Land of Fear :

The Jury was particularly touched bey the audacity and the originality of this metaphysical thriller which could open new avenues for Egyptian Cinema.

 

 

 

 

The prize for best artistic contribution "Sunset Heights" :

The Jury is touched by the energy and the charm of a young and very prornising director.

 

 

 

 

The Prize for the Best First Work of a Director  

"Peau Neuve" :

The Jury was sensitive to the originality and humanity of the character of a first Film which does not hesitate to deal with emotions, element so often forgotten in today's cinema.

 "Land pf Fear "Un Derangement Considerable :

It is not by chance that the jury has wanted to reward the work of' two screen writer Bernard Stora and Daoud Abd ElSayed who are both the complete auteurs of their films and who, in different contexts, portary with a very particular precision the social reatity of their countries.

 

 

 

 

The Prize for the Best Director "Prague Stories" :

By rewarding the work of' Martin Sulok for his episode of "Prague Stores" the jury wanted to point out the originality humor and emotion that could be exposed in a work of short duration.

 

 

 

 

The Prize for the Best Actress "The Girl in Sneakers" : 

Through the performance of the first timer Pegah Ahangarani, The jury would like to point out the audacity and the intelligence of the film in the very particular context of Iranian cinema.

 

 

 

 

The Prize for the Best Actor "Pleasure Market" 

The jury was particularly impressed by the work of a great Egyptian Star who accepted to put himself in question for an audacious and innovative film.
